Sami Alanko is larger than life and brings to Wheelchair Holidays the original tourism concept that came from one of his younger brother's traveling experiences in Thailand.

Sami's younger brother was until recently Vice-Chairman of an association for the disabled in Scandinavia. Out of these life experiences Sami has developed his tips for better living, independence and accessibility for wheelchair based people.

Sami spent 2 years as an officer in the Finnish army and even that didn't straighten him out - a night out with Sami in Pattaya or Bangkok is a full on experience as he charms his way through the night. As the "baby" of Wheelchair Holidays, Sami at 35 years of age is our diplomat and gentle guide in Thailand with his excellent working knowledge of Thai culture, customs, sensibilities and language.

Sami has a number of business ventures and partnerships in Thailand with Asian and Thai based entities which have been developed over the past 14 years. He has traveled extensively through Thailand and South East Asia during this time.

Sami has visited Thailand since 1990 and is married to a Thai national who is based in Helsinki and works for Finnair. The Alankos have two sons who are much loved by their parents.
